Abstract
Plagiarism is a serious problem with manuscripts submitted to local journals. The concern of theproblem had been a headline in the editorial of Vol. 3 No.1 (2016) of the Ethiopian Journal of Social Sciencesand Language Studies (EJSSLS). The editorial title reads: “Plagiarism: A Growing Publication Misconduct”.Even after seven years, the problem is worse with postgraduate students’ manuscripts. Such a serious problemdelays the publication process. Worse is subject to rejection. To minimize the problem, it is important to have astrong plagiarism policy and give training to the PG students, journal managing editor, and editorial boardmembers. The latter two need training as they check the text similarity degree before the manuscripts undergothe preliminary review process, in line with the plagiarism policy of EJSSLS.
